not applicable for modern organizations.”
Defend or contradict the previous statement. Support your position with evidence/examples from
businesses practices within local or global markets.

“Contingency Theory began by questioning and rejecting the idea that there is a ‘one best way’ for
all organisations. Instead, it argued for a ‘one best way’ for each organisation. It did not, therefore,
reject the Classical approach and the Human Relations approach; instead it maintained that the
optimal structures and practices of an organisation are dependent.” (Burnes, 2017).
In the light of the previous statement, discuss the three main contingencies that influence determining
organizations’ structures (Environmental uncertainty and dependence, Technology, and Size). Use the
case of Saudi Electricity Company to elaborate your discussion.

Charles Handy argues that three generic types of organisation will dominate in the future, namely:
Shamrock, Federal, and Triple I.
Analyze these three types of organizations by providing examples of each type and linking your
analysis to the concept of “Organization Excellence” and the work of Tom Peters.
