For this assignment, you will choose any culture that interests you (i.e., Italian, Russian, Japanese, etc.) and you will research that culture and how they communicate. You will review how they communicate in various social situations as well as in business. For example, in the Japanese culture, business cards are very important to them. If someone gives you a business card, you are expected to receive it with both hands and read the contents before putting it away. This assignment is to familiarize yourself with other cultures and to start to become culturally literate, as well as understanding the communication differences.
- Research a culture of your choice
- List five differences between that culture and the United States culture
- List five doâ€™s and donâ€™ts when communicating (i.e., women are not permitted to touch Buddhist monks).
- Format your paper using the correct APA style.
- Submit your paper as an MS Office Word document.
- Typed, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman or Courier font
- Use correct grammar and spelling.
- Cite your references within the paper when you paraphrase the information or quote someone. Your references should be documented according to APA style.
